Izmir is a candidate city under the theme: New Routes to a Better World/Health for All.

If Expo takes place in Izmir, it will be the first fair in the Eastern Mediterranean to have a Health theme. Izmir will create a newly designed, large exhibition area (3.7 million m²) in Inciralti, a coastal suburb of the city. A high-speed train connection between major cities will be built, and the existing city metro system and its recently improved airport will be further developed. There will be wide ranging investment in the city. It is also planned that the most extensive archaeological museum in the world be developed based on the archaeological richness of the Izmir region.

In Izmir, one will be able to attend EXPO activities during the day and can spend the rest of your time on a beach only half an hour away from Inciralti. Inciralti is a lovely seaside resort with a beautiful view, a uniquely beautiful sunset and fishing boats. White seashells are in their thousands and a green landscape composed of palm, citrus, and other trees suited to the mild climate of Izmir is all around. Balcova is only a small distance from the EXPO site and the beautiful view of Inciralti can be seen from cable cars climbing up Balçova mountain. A healthy dinner composed of Anatolian and Mediterrenean cuisine is for you to taste in the colourful sunset of Izmir.
